Jane Eyre

Aproximately 24 adaptations or so later along comes this current, 2011 version of "Jane Eyre"~one of our all time favorite movies! Charlotte Bronte, one of the 3 Bronte sisters of English literature fame wrote Jane Eyre. To date our favorite rendition is acted by Samantha Morton and Ciaran Hinds...they were amazing! So our fingers are crossed and hoping for equally stellar performances for this new version.

Mia Wasikouska and Michael Fassbender star in this Focus Film feature that is directed by Cary Fukunagas.

Haunting and enchanting!

Jane as a young girl

There are some bumps in the road along the way!

We love british actress Sally Hawkins
who's perfectly cast along with Dame Judi Dench.

Counting the days, the hours, the minutes.....

The scenery is riveting...we'll be there just as soon as this film opens in our area. March 11, 2011 can't come soon enough!

The King's Speech

There's a reason feature film, "The King's Speech", is garnering accolades. It is brilliantly acted, the sets are amazing and the tone of the movie is perfection! A must, must see film!

Colin Firth as "Bertie" King George VI
After seeing this film~Mr. Darcy who???
This character based on a true story and was his best performance yet.

Helena Bonham Carter "nailed it" as the Queen Mother. A job well done!

A fine, fine performance, every detail a delicious bit of genius!
Geoffrey Rush as Lionel Logue

Remember Jennifer Ehle (Lizzy Bennett)?? At first you can't seem to place where you've seen her before...a thousand times before...of course, Pride and Prejudice and a romance with Colin Firth. She plays Mrs. Logue.

Our hat's off to director Tom Hooper, a wonderful cast, perfectly acted-not over acted, sets that are a a delight for the eye and costuming ...well~amazing...bravo!

A new Three Musketeers remake

We love reading the books written by Alexander Dumas. They have been a favorite in our household for many years. Currently filming is underway for another remake of the tale of the "Three Musketeers". If you have ever seen the 1973 version starring such actors as, Charlton Heston, Geraldine Chaplain (Charley Chaplain's daughter), Faye Dunaway, Oliver Reed, Raquel Welch, Richard Chamberlain, Michael York and Christopher Lee, it would be difficult to top this film in cast, set design, costume design, humor and action.

~Milla Jovovich wife of director Paul W.S. Anderson, is playing M'lady De Winter and Orlando Bloom is the Duke of Buckingham~

~Why don't guys dress like this anymore~
Oh, they would be waaaay too much competition!

~Check out the hair!~

~Logan Lerman as D'Artagnan~
The director states that his film will not focus on the here-to-fore versions of the tale, but rather on modernity and action. The release date is set for April 15, 2011. We hope this film will be worthy of the writings of Monsieur Dumas. Only time will tell.

Yes! A Thousand Times, Yes!

~The Bennet's~

For all you romantics out there...
One of our all-time favorite films is Pride and Prejudice. It's the story of the five Bennet sisters coming of marriageable age. Cleverly written by Jane Austen from 1795 -1798, it is a romantics delight! We never tire of this story or the beautiful score written by Dario Marianelli.

~The dreamy costuming created by Jacqueline Durran~

This is the part where Mr. Darcy says, "You have
bewitched me body & soul and I love and love and
love you. And never wished to be parted from you
from this day on."

~Pemberly~

"People are still falling in love, people are still prejudiced against others, and people are still too proud on occasions. We like to be told that love exists, and this is an affirmation of that. "Pride and Prejudice" is a love story, about how to try to understand each other. ~Joe Wright, Director

...not only is it adored, but it's a really perfect work of art, it is a perfect narrative. ~Deborah Moggach, Writer
