Parmesan Garlic Bread

Four basic ingredients.

Parmesan Garlic Bread

Ingredients:

1 round unsliced sheepherder's bread (I find this bread at my local Von's market)
1 stick butter, room temperature
3 cloves fresh garlic, peeled and pressed through a garlic press
ground parmesan cheese (not shredded) {you could even, "don't be shocked", use canned parmesan cheese found in the pasta section of your market}
2 tablespoons minced fresh parsley leaves or a light sprinkling dried parsley

Set oven to 350 degrees.
You will need a round cake pan to bake the bread in.

To Prepare Bread:

Slice the crust off the top of the sheepherder's bread. Go all around the sides and remove just the thin layer of crust, but leave the bottom crust intact. Now slice the prepared bread into wide 2-3 inch slices, just until you reach the bottom crust being careful not to slice all the way through ( the bottom crust holds this all together).

Mix the softened butter and crushed garlic together. Separate and lightly spread each side of cut cubes inside the bread with a little garlic butter (leave the cubes attached to the bottom crust). The butter will help stick together into its original mound shape. Now spread the remaining butter all over the top as if you were frosting a cake. Sprinkle generously with ground Parmesan cheese.

Bake in a 350 degree oven for 25 minutes or until light golden brown and the bread is cooked through to the center.

Remove from oven and from cake pan and place on a serving platter. Sprinkle with parsley if desired and serve to rave compliments!
We love to sit around the table after dinner and munch on the leftover pieces of this delectable bread~ Jan & Kris
